“It’s all just a bunch of hocus pocus”- Max Hocus Pocus. Tuning into your favorite Halloween movies this year? After years of watching this beloved Halloween movie it was time to visit the film locations for Hocus Pocus. Salem, Massachusetts also known for the witch trials of 1692. This town is like walking onto a Halloween town set (another all time favorite). All the stores are decked out in Halloween decor, selling wands and potions, and you might even spot a monster or two on the streets. This travel guide will guide you through all the film locations for Hocus Pocus and addresses.

Allison's House: 318 Essex Street

First stop was Allison’s house officially known as the Rope’s Mansion. This mansion built in 1727 can be toured however due to covid 19 it is postponed. However, there is a free garden worth checking out. 

Thackery Binx’s House– 98 West Ave

The opening scenes were filmed here to take place in the 1600’s as Binx’s home. This location is called Salem’s Pioneer Village. It was free for admission however I suggest at least a $5 donation per person. This particular location has unique times for opening and closing so I would look ahead of time if you can visit. Top tip when visiting do not light the black light flame candle if visiting on Hallow’s eve.  

The Halloween Party: Old Town Hall 32 Derby Square.

When the witches come back from the dead, Dani, Max, and Allison head over to Town Hall, where their parents are attending a Halloween party to warn them of the witches. Eventually, the witches placed a spell on the crowd. My favorite part of the movie with the song all the Sanderson sisters singing I put a spell on you. 

Dani & Maxi’s House-  Residential Home 4 Ocean Ave. 

Max and Dani's new home in the movie. This home to this day even has the tower. Such a beautiful and elegant New England home. However, be mindful this is someone’s home and be respectful. What the movie does not show you is it overlooks a harbor and the sail boats in the back make such a nice New England touch.

Max Flirts with Allison in the Park: Salem Commons 

Max flirts with Allison in the park trick or treat. She gives him back his own phone number! We actually walked through this park but did not snap a photo. The Salem Witch Museum is right across the street. 

The scene where Max is riding his bicycle through a cemetery and stopped by two bullies. Eventually stealing his shoes. 

The School: South Washington Square

School Max attended. Also the scene where Allison, Max, and Dani lure the three witches into a kiln.
