How about them apples! We decided to spend take an extended weekend to see the fall foliage in Vermont. Our first stop was apple picking, which is Vermont’s state fruit. My bucket list is going to every state and having the opportunity to pick each state’s fruit. We stopped at Green Mountain Orchards. It is located in the hills in Putney, VT. It was absolutely stunning. The pictures do not do this place justice. Endless apple trees on rolling hills surrounded by the autumn fall foliage. This farm has several different fruits year round however, 125 acres of just apple orchards. This orchard was a u-pick apple farm. Although we visited the second week of October, most trees were already picked. I think we visited too late in the season. However, we were still able to find some hidden apples throughout. We also took a look around inside the orchard’s store. You can see employees making fresh pressed cider and heavenly cider donuts being baked fresh. My first time trying both cider and apple cider donuts. Both were delicious. Click here for Green Mountain Orchards also on their website is a recipe for their apple pie. Also since we visited in-between seasons the u-pick pumpkin patch on the hill was optional if visiting.
